Regent Law Moot Reaches Quarterfinals in Moot Court National Championship

Regent University School of Law’s moot court team of Abigail Hilburn, Lexi Overcash, and Bethanie Quigley reached the quarterfinal round of the Moot Court National Championship (MCNC) sponsored by Hunton Andrews Kurth on January 30, 2021. The MCNC is an invitational national championship for schools that ranked in the Top 16 nationally for moot court the previous year. The team that beat Regent Law in the quarterfinal round won the competition. “Our team represented Regent Law with excellence,” said Professor Michael Hernandez, the team’s head coach and faculty advisor for the Moot Court Board and Trial Advocacy Board. “Their last argument was particularly outstanding. If it had been a real appellate court that was undecided coming into the oral argument, our team’s arguments would have carried the day on the merits. Why is Regent’s Financial Planning Program in the Law School?

Those topics are typically taught in business school. Why, then, would Regent put the Financial Planning Master's Degree program in the School of Law?  Turns out there are some good reasons for it! Let me state upfront that Regent University would not have a financial planning program that meets the CFP Board’s standards at Regent Law without assistance from the School of Business and Leadership (SBL).
